Tena Tena Camp – location
Tena Tena may be just an hour's drive from the nearest airport, but it feels like a million miles from the distractions of the modern world. The camp is near the Lunga Lagoon, one of the most important water holes in the South Luangwa National Park. During the dry season, herds of up to 1,000 buffalo gather there. Elephant stop to drink as they move across the park to nearby mopane woodland.

The South Luangwa National Park is a vast area of wilderness measuring some 4,000 sq miles. Most of it lies on the west bank of the Luangwa River, but a small section measuring about 40 sq miles – the Nsefu Sector – sits on the east bank. Because there are just two camps in this sector, Tena Tena safari camp and Nsefu safari camp, both operated by Robin Pope Safaris, the game viewing is effectively private.
The area around Tena Tena is also among the best in Zambia to view the elusive leopard. Join one of our night drives and you can experience the heart-stopping excitement of stalking these remarkable creatures by spotlight.
