Pumulani – location and travel

Malawi is known as the warm heart of Africa. The country is dominated by Lake Malawi, Africa’s third largest lake which runs along part of the Great Rift Valley. The most picturesque part of Lake Malawi is in the south where Lake Malawi National Park is home to hundreds of species of fish, including colourful cichlids.

Our villas rest on a lush hillside along the picturesque western shores of the Nankumba Peninsula. As we look out over the calm waters of the lake we are privileged to witness some of the most beautiful sunsets in Africa.

Most of our guests arrive by private air charter, flying low over Malawi’s richly diverse landscapes. The final leg of their journey is completed by private vehicle or, weather permitting, you have the option of a luxury speedboat transfer. It is also possible to drive to Pumulani from Lilongwe in about three hours.

Many of our guests combine a relaxing stay on the beach with a wildlife safari in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park, staying at one of the three luxury bush camps also run by Robin Pope Safaris.
